When Moore was thirteen she began working on music by herself.[2] One day while working in an Orlando studio, she was overheard by Victor Cade, a FedEx delivery man who had a friend in A&R at Epic Records.[12] Cade later sent this friend a copy of Moore's unfinished demo, and Moore signed on with the label.[2][13]

Moore's debut single, "Candy", was released on August 17, 1999, in the U.S.[16] The single was a commercial success in a number of countries, but was immediately compared to the singles of fellow teen pop singers Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears.[10][17][18][19] It debuted at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100,[20] before peaking at number 41 on the chart.[21] The single later received a Gold certification from the RIAA, for sales exceeding 500,000 copies in the U.S.[22] The single was the most successful in Australia, where it peaked at number 2 on the ARIA Charts[23] and received a Platinum certification.[24] Moore began to host and VJ at MTV, contributing to numerous shows including Total Request Live, Say What? Karaoke, and her own talk show which was originally called The Mandy Moore Show before being retitled as Mandy.[25]

In 2003, Moore co-starred with Allison Janney, Peter Gallagher, and Trent Ford in the romantic comedy-drama How to Deal which was based on Sarah Dessen's novels That Summer and Someone like You. She played Halley Martin, a cynical and rebellious seventeen-year-old who deals with falling in love with Macon Forrester (Ford), the new boy at her school and her relationships and issues with her family and friends. The film failed to find teenage audiences in the U.S. and grossed a total of $14 million domestically.[75]

In 2004, Moore co-starred with Matthew Goode in the romantic comedy Chasing Liberty. She played Anna Foster, the rebellious eighteen-year-old "First Daughter" who wants more freedom from the Secret Service. The film grossed approximately $12 million.[75] Both How to Deal and Chasing Liberty received generally negative and lukewarm reviews, respectively;[76] but Ebert singled Moore's performances out again and said in his review of How to Deal that Moore has "an unaffected natural charm" and "almost makes the movie worth seeing,"[77] and said in his review of Chasing Liberty that she has "undeniable screen presence and inspires instant affection."[78] Other critics called Moore an "actress of limited range,"[79] but one review of Chasing Liberty called her the "most painless of former pop princesses."[80] (Another romantic comedy with a similar theme, First Daughter, which starred Katie Holmes, was released later that year.)[81]

In 2006, Moore guest-starred as Julie Quinn in two episodes of the fifth season of the NBC medical sitcom Scrubs, that were the ninth episode "My Half-Acre" and the tenth episode "Her Story II". The same year, she guest-starred in the Fox animated sitcom The Simpsons, where she voiced Tabitha Vixx in the seventeenth-season finale called "Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play".[87]

When Moore's musical career began in 1999, she was known for her bubblegum pop sound and image, which she revealed was not the type of music she prefers, saying, "[The record company] was like, 'Here are your songs.' I was like, 'Hi, I'm fourteen. I'll do anything.' Those albums are why I'm here today, but god damn, I should give a refund to anyone who bought my first record".[218]

The Darkest Minds is a 2018 American dystopian science fiction film directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and written by Chad Hodge. Based on Alexandra Bracken's 2012 young adult novel of the same name, it was produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie. It follows a group of young children and teenagers who are on the run from the government after mysteriously obtaining superpowers.

In a dystopian future, a contagious disease called Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration (IAAN) kills nearly 90 percent of all children and teenagers living in the United States, leaving the survivors with unusual abilities. These survivors with superpowers are imprisoned throughout the country. The children are divided into groups: Green (have increased intelligence), Blue (telekinesis), Yellow (can manipulate electricity), Red (can control fire), and Orange (have telepathy and mind control capabilities). Ruby Daly is an Orange, which means she has the psionic ability to get into people's mind. Children that are Red and Orange are considered too dangerous with their powers and supposed to be killed instantly, but she touches the doctor who is classifying her and puts the thought in his head that she is a Green.

The Equalizer is a 2014 American vigilante action film directed by Antoine Fuqua, loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same title. Written by Richard Wenk, it stars Denzel Washington in the lead role, Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. The film focuses on a former U.S. Marine turned DIA intelligence officer who reluctantly returns to action to protect a teenage prostitute from members of the Russian mafia. Principal photography began in June 2013 in Massachusetts. The Equalizer had its world premiere at 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2014, and was released worldwide on September 26, 2014, in conventional and IMAX theaters.

Former Marine and DIA operative Robert McCall lives a quiet, routine life in Boston, working at a Home Mart hardware store. He helps his coworker Ralphie train to become a security guard, and often spends late nights reading at a diner where he befriends Alina, a teenage prostitute trafficked by the Russian mafia. When Alina is badly beaten by her pimp, Slavi, Robert visits her in the hospital and questions her friend, Mandy. He goes to Slavi's restaurant and offers to buy Alina's freedom, but Slavi refuses, leading Robert to expertly kill him and his men in a matter of seconds.

My favorite season! The smells, the cool air, football, flannel, campfires...and family portraits. Fall is the most popular time for these. Christmas is around the corner, and portraits make wonderful family gifts and of course, Christmas cards. Many families wait until they see the leaves change before thinking "oh, this is a great time for a family portrait!" But October and November dates are filling fast, and you'll want to schedule right away to get your spot. This fall, purchase any wall portrait and get 25 custom Christmas cards as our gift to you. Portraits must be completed by Nov. 15 in order to take advantage of the card offer.

Karin recently came in for some professional portraits. She debuted her talent last year at Oklahoma's Trail of Tears Art Show, and walked away with numerous awards, including "Emerging Artist of the Year" and "The People's Choice." Since then, her art has taken her many places all over the U.S., and was recently featured in the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art's Native American exhibit. Karin is Cherokee, and blends tradition with contemporary to create amazingly beautiful pieces, without a pottery wheel.

Mandy Prater is an Austin, Texas-based musician, singer and songwriter. She would probably tell you that music has saved her life many times since she started her first garage band as a young teen in small-town Indiana.

Because we got to live in a world where Rebecca was at her most cognizant, I feel like she was at a chapter of her life where she maybe felt like she was firing on all cylinders. It was nice to live in that world again, because for the last season and a half, we weren't really in this world anymore. This was the period of eight- to 12-year-olds and those kids grew up. So we've been living with the little littles, a bit of the teenagers, so I haven't existed in this space before. I think it was like where the marriage was the strongest. 2ff7e9595c
